Up and coming walks this December with the Deeside Ramblers

Join the Deeside Ramblers on one of their walks this December, its a perfect way to get out and enjoy the region.

The organised walks are a great bit exercise and as always you get to meet some fantastic people and make new friends.

Walks in December include:

  • Saturday 6 December 10am, , In the footsteps of pilgrims, meeting at Llanasa Church (12 miles)
  • Wednesday 17 December 10am, Around Trevor, meeting at the Sun Trevor Inn, (4 miles) Optional pub lunch.
  • Sunday 21 December 10am, , Far from the madding crowds, meeting at car park near the Stag Inn Bagillt (7 miles)

Walking with your local Ramblers group is a good way to explore your local environment.

Ramblers walk leaders often know how to get to the most interesting places so you can enjoy all the benefits of walking without the worries of getting lost or planning a route.

Walking is also an excellent natural exercise that can help you stay healthy and live longer.

As a registered charity, the Ramblers operates both on a local and national level and aims to encourage walking, protect and maintain rights of way, increase access to open countryside and the coast and to defend the beauty of the countryside.

According to research:

Exercise such as walking can bring a number of benefits, these can include the reduction of anxiety and depression, preventing diabetes, help to reduce weight, reduce the risk of bowel cancer and improve muscle strength.

It can even be good for your brain! In a recent report produced by Stanford University they found that creative output increased by an average of 60 percent when walking.

Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook has been seen having meetings on foot.

Walking in a group such as Community Walks, takes away the possible anxiety of walking on your own due to perceived ‘dangers’ or perhaps getting lost. It also brings the opportunity of making new friends, feeling a sense of achievement and being able to get out of doors. Walk leaders are qualified to lead a group and will know the area they are walking in.

Walks are 60 or 90 minutes in length and light refreshments are available at the finish of each walk.

Community Walks are available in Hawarden, Shotton, Broughton & Bretton and Higher Kinnerton.
