Cheshire Police are advising motorist’s about the possibility of delays around the Elton, Ellesmere Port and Chester areas on Friday 30 January.

A high volume of traffic is expected as members of Traveller community are expected to attend a funeral which is expected to attract a significant number of mourners police say.

Reports locally suggest as many as two thousand people may attend the funeral at Blacon cemetery.

Officers have been working closely with Cheshire West and Chester to reduce delays as much as possible, but it is anticipated that there may be delays on the A5117, A5032, A41 and the A5116, which may impact upon the arterial routes ion the local area, including the M56 and M53.

For safety reasons a road closure order will be in place on Blacon Avenue between 12.00 to 2.30pm.

The order will restrict access to Blacon Avenue between Parkgate Roundabout and Saughall Road.

A local diversion will be in place and access will be maintained for emergency services, residents and local businesses at all times.
