Have your say on new Sychdyn luxury lodge plans

Community feedback is being sought on proposals for a new luxury lodge park in Sychdyn.
The scheme, known as Parc Gwysaney Luxury Lodge Park, would see up to 75 lodges built at Tyddyn Uchaf Farm on Raikes Lane, along with a visitor centre including a tearoom, reception and small shop.
The site forms part of the wider Gwysaney Estate and has been under the ownership of the Davies-Cooke family since 1550.
The proposals are at a pre-planning stage, with an informal public consultation event scheduled for 3.15pm to 7.30pm on Tuesday, 24 February 2026 at Sychdyn Memorial Hall.
Information and feedback forms will also be available online, with the deadline for responses set for Friday 13 March.
The estate says the development is intended to address what it describes as a lack of suitable visitor accommodation in the area and to encourage tourism spending within Flintshire.
Richard Davies-Cooke, who currently oversees the estate, said: “With the Davies-Cooke family being tied to the county of Flintshire for generations, it is vital that we constantly reposition ourselves to help serve the local community.
“Having taken stakeholders’ feedback into account, it is clear that there is a lack of accommodation within the area which is stifling the local economy and inhibiting investment opportunities within the county.
“A new, discretely sited luxury lodge park will provide this by encouraging passing tourists to stay overnight, enabling them to explore and spend their money within this stunning and historic region.”
The Gwysaney Estate states that it has had a presence in the local agricultural, residential and commercial sectors for centuries and is undergoing a process of rationalisation and modernisation under its current stewardship.
Details of the proposals and consultation materials are available via the Parc Gwysaney website.
