One lane has reopened on the A55 eastbound at Northop following a collision that closed the carriageway this morning.

Traffic Wales confirmed lane one of two is now open and traffic is beginning to move.

INRIX traffic monitoring is reporting queueing traffic remains on the eastbound carriageway between junction 33 at Northop Road and junction 33A at Brookside, Northop Hall East.

North Wales Police had asked drivers to avoid the area while emergency services dealt with the incident, warning the closure would remain in place for some time.

A large emergency service presence attended the scene, an air ambulance landing close to the collision.

The air ambulance has since left the scene.

Drivers on the eastbound A55 through Flintshire should still expect delays while the queue between Northop and Northop Hall East clears.
