87 year old pensioner swindled out of £300 for minor gardening job by cold callers in Garden City

An 87-year-old pensioner from Garden City was been swindled out of £300 by rogue traders operating in the area yesterday, Tuesday 4th July.

The ‘cold callers’ two males and a female, visited the woman’s home to offer gardening services.

The trio convinced the pensioner her garden was a ‘big job’ and after trimming some bushes in the front garden charged her £300.

The three were seen in a Transit van part of the registration is known to be GV03***

Enquiries are ongoing.

In another report posted on the OWL Online Watch website a cold caller went to a house in the Kingston Drive area of Connah’s Quay on Wednesday 21 June.

The male was found by the resident on their driveway. When asked what he was doing, he said that there was a problem with moss on the roof of the house and that he could help.

The resident refused his services, the cold caller was quite insistent, but the resident was firm and said they were not interested and he went away.
