29 teams take on marathon distance at Deeside Athletics Track

A community fitness group has completed a marathon relay at Deeside Athletics Track, with all 29 competing teams finishing the distance in Saturday’s heat.
Lift Flintshire, a not-for-profit community interest company, organised the event on 11 July.

Teams of four ran a combined 106 laps of the 400m track at Deeside College, covering just over marathon distance.
The winning team finished in two hours 10 minutes.
Lift Flintshire said prizes were awarded for participation and effort as well as for performance, reflecting the inclusive approach of the group and its volunteer-led Flintshire Run Club.
The relay follows five months of expansion for the organisation, which now runs free monthly running sessions for women and girls at Deeside Athletics Track, a beginner-friendly Couch to 5k programme, a girls-only Couch to 5k programme for high school pupils, and strength training sessions for people aged over 55 at Number One HSP in Queensferry.
Lift Flintshire aims to increase opportunities for people across Flintshire to move more, improve their health and build stronger communities through physical activity, with a focus on removing barriers to participation.
