Police have identified ‘some young offenders’ who have plagued Saltney Town Football Club with repeated vandalism attacks in recent months.

Police had asked the public for help in catching the vandals who targeted the clubs dugouts three times over October and November.

Officials estimate the damage caused by the spate of vandalism has cost the club well over £1500.

Interestingly the club has asked for the offenders to be put through a Restorative Justice Programme rather than face criminal charges.

Restorative justice brings those harmed by crime or conflict and those responsible for the harm into communication, enabling everyone affected by a particular incident to play a part in repairing the harm and finding a positive way forward.

This is part of a wider field called restorative practice which increasingly being used in schools, children’s services, workplaces, hospitals, communities and the criminal justice system.

Police say Saltney Town Football Club “want to positively engage with the persons responsible.”
