Storm Darragh: Severe weather forecast for Saturday sees Mold Outdoor Market cancelled

News and Info from Deeside, Flintshire, North Wales

Severe weather warnings have led to the cancellation of Mold’s Outdoor Market on Saturday, 7 December, while Sunday’s Mold Christmas Market remains at risk due to predicted high winds.

The decision to cancel the Outdoor Market was made due to forecast wind speeds that far exceed safe levels for operating stalls and gazebos, according to event organisers.

Residents in Flintshire are bracing for Storm Darragh, with an amber warning for wind in effect from 3:00 am to 9:00 pm on Saturday, 7 December.

The Met Office is warning of potentially damaging winds, with inland gusts of 60–70 mph.

Flintshire County Council is closely monitoring the weather for Sunday’s Christmas Market, which is scheduled for 8 December.

The council stated that the Festive Market may proceed, but some activities, including the popular Giant Snowglobe, may not be operational if high winds persist.

A final decision on whether the Christmas Market will go ahead will be communicated tomorrow afternoon, with safety remaining the top priority.

Visitors and traders are encouraged to keep an eye on updates from Flintshire County Council for the latest information.
