Mold to host Tour of Britain Women stage for first time

The 2026 Lloyds Tour of Britain Women will start its third stage in Mold on Friday 21 August, with riders heading to The Great Orme in Llandudno for the finish, British Cycling has announced.
It will be the first time Mold has hosted the start of a Tour of Britain stage, and the first time the women’s race has come to Flintshire, though the men’s Tour has previously included stages in the county.
The race is part of the UCI Women’s WorldTour.
Stage three follows two opening stages in Cumbria and Lancashire, before North Wales takes centre stage on 21 August.
Flintshire County Council, Conwy County Borough Council and Powys County Council are all partners in the hosting agreement with British Cycling.
Councillor Chris Dolphin, Flintshire County Council’s cabinet member for environment, regeneration, countryside and tourism, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to put Flintshire in the spotlight and showcase everything our county has to offer.”
“It will bring in visitors from far and wide while creating a real sense of excitement and pride within our communities. We look forward to welcoming competitors and spectators to Mold and helping to make the event a great success.”
The Great Orme finish will be familiar to cycling fans — Lotte Kopecky won there in 2024 in the last Tour of Britain Women stage the venue hosted, and in the men’s race in 2021 Julian Alaphilippe and Wout van Aert contested the finish on the headland.
Cllr Sharon Doleman, Conwy County Borough Council’s cabinet member for events, said: “I’m absolutely delighted to welcome the Lloyds Tour of Britain Women back to Llandudno.”
“This is exactly the kind of major event that showcases everything that’s great about our area — our stunning coastal setting, our warm welcome, and our ability to host world-class sporting occasions.”
Jonathan Day, Director of Events for British Cycling Ventures, said: “We are excited to be bringing the prestigious Lloyds Tour of Britain Women to these fantastic locations in August.”
“We are bringing new hosts and stages in Mold, Llanidloes, and Hay-on-Wye, and it is fantastic to return to previous hosts of the Tour in Cockermouth, Clitheroe, Blackpool, Llandudno and Leamington Spa.”
Stage four on Saturday 22 August runs from Llanidloes to Hay-on-Wye in Powys, before the race concludes in Royal Leamington Spa on Sunday 23 August.
British Cycling research found the 2025 Tours of Britain generated a combined economic impact of £62.3 million across all ten stages in England and Wales.
The event is free to spectate. Details on volunteering are available through British Cycling’s website.
