Storm Darragh: Severe disruption continues on roads across region
Severe weather conditions caused by Storm Darragh are persisting across Flintshire and North Wales, with widespread disruption reported on major and minor roads.
Fallen trees, flooding, and blocked routes have left some areas inaccessible, prompting authorities to urge caution as nightfall approaches.
Superintendent Owain Llewellyn of North Wales Police issued a warning to drivers, saying, “Responders are working hard to clear roads across the region, but the scale of disruption means it has been impossible to remove all fallen trees prior to nightfall. Warning signs may not be in place for many of these obstructions or localised flooding, so please use extreme caution – avoid travelling if possible.”

Additional flood warnings have also been issued by Natural Resources Wales.
Residents are being reminded not to drive through floodwater, as doing so could lead to stranded vehicles and place further strain on emergency services.
Key roads in the region remain affected by blockages caused by high winds and torrential rain.
Emergency responders are prioritising high-risk areas, but the sheer volume of incidents means many hazards will remain overnight.
Local authorities and emergency services are encouraging residents to stay informed by following updates from the Met Office, Natural Resources Wales, and Traffic Wales. “Thanks again for your cooperation as we continue to protect communities during this challenging time,” Superintendent Llewellyn added.
With heavy rain forecast to continue into the evening, the Met Office has maintained its yellow weather warning for the region.
