Power outages persist across Flintshire following Storm Darragh
Energy network operators are continuing efforts to restore electricity to homes across the UK following extensive damage caused by Storm Darragh.
As of 2pm on Sunday, 8 December, approximately 161,000 customers remain without power nationwide.
Flintshire is among the areas affected, with SP Energy Networks reporting outages in Mold, Mancot, Halkyn, and surrounding villages.
The storm, which has disrupted power supplies across Wales and England, came as amber and yellow weather warnings were issued on Friday.
While 91% of affected customers—around 1.7 million people—have had power restored, work is ongoing to reconnect remaining properties.
Flintshire residents have faced significant disruption, with SP Energy Networks’ live power cut map showing scattered outages throughout the county.
Restoration teams are prioritising urgent repairs to restore service to the hardest-hit areas.
Storm Darragh has brought strong winds and heavy rain to much of the UK, causing widespread damage.
The Energy Networks Association has confirmed that power restoration teams are working around the clock to address the storm’s impact.
Advice for Residents
Flintshire residents affected by power cuts are encouraged to:
- Report outages directly to their network operator by calling 105.
- Use the SP Energy Networks power cut map for real-time updates.
The public is also reminded to avoid fallen power lines and check on vulnerable neighbours where it is safe to do so.
