A ready meals manufacturer supplying all the UK’s leading supermarket chains, is creating over 200 new jobs in Flint as it gets ready to open its new premises.

Oscar Mayer Ltd is investing in the refurbishment of an existing factory on Aber Road Industrial Estate to meet the growing demand for vegan and vegetarian meals.

The company acquired the David Woods Foods’ factory in Flint with a view for the site to become a dedicated meat-free production unit.

Oscar Mayer already operates a the Rowan Foods site on Wrexham Industrial Estate, which currently employs over 1000 people.

Due to an increase in customer demand and a similar investment in those premises, there are an additional 50 new jobs are being created at Rowan Foods.

Richard Pemberton, General Manager of both Wrexham and Flint sites, commented: “This expansion represents a very exciting milestone for Oscar Mayer in North Wales.

Through thoughtful planning and nimble responses to a changing marketplace, we have become one of the area’s largest employers.

At a time of such great challenge for many businesses in North Wales, we’re delighted to be bucking the trend by offering more job opportunities for people locally.

We are proud that, due to the determination and hard work of our staff, we have been able to continue to provide vital food supplies to all our customers throughout the pandemic, whilst remaining COVID-secure.

Our priorities have always been the welfare of our staff and supporting our customers and on this basis, we are forecasting a strong future for the Oscar Mayer team in Wales.

At last some good news as we all emerge from the pandemic.”
