A 49-year-old man from Prestatyn has been imprisoned for a series of sexual offences against a child.

Karl Taylor, of Brook Park Avenue, appeared at Mold Crown Court on Thursday 4 September for sentencing.

After previously denying all charges during a three-day trial last month, Taylor was found guilty of three counts of sexual assault and two counts of inciting a child under 13 into sexual activity.

He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, with an additional year to be served on licence. He is also subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Detective Constable Catrin-Mai Jones said: “Karl Taylor’s conviction and sentencing today reflect the gravity of the offences committed against a vulnerable child.

“His actions were deeply disturbing, and the impact on the victim and family has been profound.

“I want to commend the bravery of the young victim, whose courage in coming forward and supporting the investigation has been instrumental in securing this outcome.

“North Wales Police remains committed to protecting children and pursuing those who exploit or harm them. We hope today’s sentence provides some measure of justice and reassurance to the victim and her loved ones.

“We urge anyone who has concerns about child sexual abuse—past or present—to contact us. You will be listened to, and support is available.”
