A woman from Wrexham has been sentenced after admitting she provided false information on a police form following a car crash.

Danuta Czajk, 45, was the passenger in a VW Transporter which reversed into another vehicle on 10 December 2024. The Transporter was being driven by a man who refused to give his details to the motorist at the scene.

North Wales Police were given a photograph of the pair by the driver of the other vehicle. An investigation identified Czajk as the only insured driver of the Transporter.

A Notice of Intended Prosecution was sent to Czajk. She signed and returned the form claiming she was driving at the time of the crash.

She was later interviewed by police, answered “no comment” to questions, but was recognised as the passenger in the photograph, in line with witness testimony.

At Mold Crown Court, Czajk pleaded guilty to doing an act intending to pervert the course of justice.

Senior Crown Prosecutor Deanne McGinty said: “Czajk signed an official form saying she was the driver of a vehicle when she was not.

“Acts such as this can lead to the Criminal Justice System being undermined and are taken very seriously by the Crown Prosecution Service.

“This case serves as a reminder to vehicle owners and drivers of the importance of providing correct information when asked to do so by the police or other authorities.”

Czajk was sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for 18 months. She was also ordered to complete 15 days of Rehabilitation Activity Requirement and three months of trail monitoring.
