Mold Christmas Market cancelled due to flooding from Storm Darrah

Storm Darragh has forced the cancellation of Mold’s much-anticipated Christmas Market, which was due to take place tomorrow, Sunday, 8 December.

Flintshire County Council confirmed the decision, citing safety concerns and the extent of flooding and damage in the area.

The council stated, “Due to the weather conditions and the disruption caused, we’ve had to make this hard decision. Apologies again to all those affected.”

Storm Darragh, which brought heavy rain and strong winds to much of Wales, has left a trail of disruption, flooding has been reported across large parts of Flintshire.

Mold is among the worst-hit areas, Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board announced that the Minor Injury Unit at Mold Hospital has been closed for the rest of the day because of flooding.

Residents seeking medical care have been advised to check the health board’s website for alternative local health services.

In a statement on social media, the health board urged the public to “stay safe and continue to follow updates” from key services, including the Met Office, Natural Resources Wales, and North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, for information on flooding and travel disruptions.
