A Wirral man has joined Deeside-based POP UP Products as assistant management accountant.

Sam O’Brien, 23, took on the role earlier this year at the access equipment developer based at Deeside Industrial Estate.

His work goes beyond balance sheets. He has been involved in the company’s Net Zero campaign, developed dashboards for sales staff and produces weekly reports for directors on credit control and cash flow.

“I’m enjoying every moment of it,” said Sam, who originally started his training with an NHS accountancy apprenticeship.

He worked his way up before joining POP UP Products and will continue training with the company, initially taking Association of Accounting Technicians exams and later progressing to Chartered Institute of Management Accountants qualifications.

“I’m very much given the freedom to research and develop new systems and get involved in new projects. I really feel I’m part of the team,” he said.

Sam, who is also a keen golfer, has joined the company golf team.

“I did qualify for the European Open when I was a junior and won the Junior Masters at Sandiways so I really enjoy joining my colleagues on the golf course,” he said.
