Coastguard and police drone team rescue dog stuck in Gronant marshland

Coastguard rescue teams and a North Wales Police drone unit searched marshland at Gronant on Thursday evening after a dog went missing.
The alert came in at around 6pm.
The dog’s owner had gone into the marshland themselves in an attempt to find the animal, before turning back over the risk of becoming stuck in the mud.
Rhyl Coastguard Rescue Team said there remained a risk the owner would re-enter the marsh to continue the search.
Coastguard Rescue Officers, including specialist mud rescue technicians, were deployed to search the area.
The team described the terrain as thick, head-height reeds, mud and water gullies, with a risk of entrapment.
Due to the difficulty of the search, a request for mutual aid was made to North Wales Police, whose drone team assisted from above.
The dog was flushed from the marsh and moved into nearby dunes, where it was located with continued help from the police drone.
It was reunited with its owner unharmed.
Rhyl Coastguard Rescue Team, Flint Coastguard Rescue Team and North Wales Police were all involved in the operation.
Coastguard teams have advised that anyone whose pet strays into marshland or mud flats should avoid entering themselves and call 999 to ask for the Coastguard.
