A suspected drink driver who was caught peeing ‘on the M56’ was arrested by police during the early hours of the morning.

A National Highways officer patrolling the M56 in Cheshire spotted the driver urinating.

When the driver left, the Highways officer followed due to concerns about the manner of driving.

Two Cheshire Police Roads and Crime Units moved in and pulled the driver over.

The driver failed the roadside breath test and was arrested.

In custody the driver was found to be double the legal limit after blowing 71 mg in 100ml of breath – the limit is 35mg/100ml.

Police said the driver has been remanded for court.
