Cadw Open Doors brings tours to Hawarden Masonic Hall

Several historic buildings in Hawarden will be opening their doors to the public on Saturday 13 September as part of Cadw’s annual Open Doors heritage event.
Among them is the Grade II-listed Hawarden Masonic Hall, which will host a series of free guided tours throughout the day.
The building, constructed in 1877 as a boys’ school following the Education Act introduced under Prime Minister William Gladstone’s government, has been a Masonic Hall since 1913.
Tours will offer visitors the chance to explore the hall’s history and architecture, including the sandstone walls and bricked-up windows that many people pass daily without knowing their story.
The first tour begins at 9.30am, with further 45-minute sessions running hourly until 3.30pm. Several tours are already fully booked, with limited spaces remaining on others.
Drinks and cakes will be served by Hawarden Dee Valley Rotary in the dining hall between 10am and 4.30pm.
Booking is required for the Hawarden Masonic Hall tours. To reserve a space, call 01244 830805 or email [email protected], stating “Cadw tour”.
The address is Hawarden Masonic Hall Company Ltd, Gladstone Way, Hawarden, Deeside, Flintshire, CH5 3HE.
