Airbus FC duo make Corbett Sports WPL Team of the Season

Wingmakers Mike Pearson and Tom Field make it into the Welsh Premier League Team of the Season

After a long season for all the clubs in the Corbett Sports WPL and with the Play-Off Final still to come, the member club managers took time out to cast their votes on the team of the season.

Two Airbus FC players, Mike Pearson who started 38 games this season finding the net on two occasions.

Mike Pearson: Bangor-born defender who progressed through the Oldham Athletic youth system, making his Football League debut in February 2007. After a loan spell with Farsley Celtic he was released and joined Barrow where, after recovering from a double leg break, he went on to captain the side and make 151 appearances. A Welsh semi-professional international, he joined Airbus UK Broughton in June 2013.

Tom Field who scored on average a goal every other game, starting 31 in total and bagging 16 goals were voted into the starting XI.

Tom Field: Formerly an Everton youth with experience at Leigh RMI who joined TNS for their Uefa Cup campaign in 2005, but was then released.  Went on to play for Vauxhall Motors, Chester and Northwich Victoria, before returning to the Welsh Premier with Airbus UK Broughton in June 2012.

The New Saints claimed the most players in the squad of 17 players with seven players followed by Bala Town four players.
Aberystwyth Town’s Chris Venables, who scored on Sunday against gap Connah’s Quay to secure a spot in the Europa League play off final also made it onto the XI.
