Weekend weather: warm Saturday then Sunday rain for Flintshire

News and Info from Deeside, Flintshire, North Wales

Flintshire is set for a warm, dry Saturday before rain arrives on Sunday, bringing a brief change after weeks of dry weather.

The Met Office forecast for Flintshire shows a high of 24C on Saturday, with the morning dry and the chance of rain rising to 30% from mid-afternoon.

Temperatures are expected to reach 23C to 24C by late morning, with high pollen levels forecast.

The change comes overnight into Sunday, with a 70% chance of light rain at 6am and rain chances staying between 40% and 70% through the morning.

Sunday will be the coolest day of the weekend, with a high of 20C that will feel more like 16C, and gusts of up to 32mph.

The Met Office says weather fronts moving south-east across the UK will bring cloud and rain to north Wales for part of Saturday, with more widespread rain and drizzle following overnight and into Sunday morning.

Met Office Chief Meteorologist Dan Suri said: “After a prolonged spell of hot, dry and settled weather, some will see a temporary change this weekend as weather fronts move south-east across the UK.

“While some areas, particularly in the north and west, will see rain and showers, many places are likely to receive relatively little rainfall.”

Rainfall totals are expected to be mostly small away from western and north-western Scotland.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service is continuing to monitor Hope Mountain and Pentre Halkyn as a precaution during the dry conditions, and is asking people to avoid disposable barbecues and take litter home when out in the countryside.

Temperatures in Flintshire recover quickly next week, with 23C forecast for Monday, 25C on Tuesday and similar warmth through to Thursday.

The Met Office says parts of southern and eastern England could reach 30C by Tuesday, with the possibility of a fourth heatwave episode of the year for parts of the UK.
