Warm and sunny bank holiday weekend forecast for Flintshire, with hotter weather to follow

A warm and settled bank holiday weekend is forecast for Flintshire, with temperatures set to peak at 25°C on bank holiday Monday before climbing further into next week.
The Met Office forecast for Hawarden, updated on Wednesday 20 May, shows sunny intervals on Friday and Saturday with highs of 23°C and 22°C.
Sunday is forecast to be sunny and reach 24°C, with bank holiday Monday sunny and reaching 25°C.
Tuesday next week is forecast at 26°C.
The chance of rain across the period is consistently below 5%, with winds light to moderate.
Across the UK, the Met Office is forecasting an unusually warm spell for May, with temperatures expected to peak at 28°C to 29°C across England and Wales over the weekend, and a chance of 30°C in the southeast.

The Met Office’s Deputy Chief Forecaster, Greg Wolverson, said:
“A very warm period of weather will develop through the weekend and into next week for much of the UK.
“High pressure will be in charge of the UK’s weather over the bank holiday weekend and this should bring fine and settled conditions to most areas. The exception will be parts of northwestern Scotland where it will be cooler and cloudier with some rain at times. There is also a small risk of some thunder in the south late on Friday into Saturday.”
The Met Office said any temperature above 29.4°C would be the warmest May reading recorded in the UK since 2012.
The all-time May record is 32.8°C.
A heatwave is defined by the Met Office as three consecutive days at or above a temperature threshold that varies by area.
Mr Wolverson said:
“Heatwave thresholds are likely to be reached in parts of the UK from Sunday, most likely in southeastern England. Into next week, these conditions are expected to become more widespread, extending across central and western England and into parts of Wales, as temperatures remain well above average.”
RAC breakdown spokesperson Harriet Hernando said drivers should make sure their cars are summer-ready before setting off on longer journeys this weekend.
She said:
“With the weather set to transition from cold to hot as the bank holiday approaches, we’re going to see a lot more traffic on the roads, and with that comes the risk of many more vehicles breaking down in the heat. Before setting out on a long journey, motorists should make sure that their car is summer-ready. One of the biggest risks is an increase in cars overheating, especially when sat in queues of traffic with no shade.”
