Ty Calon calls for support after cabin project left incomplete

Ty Calon has launched an urgent appeal for help to finish an unfinished extension at its Queensferry campus.
The community hub said it has faced repeated setbacks, including a break-in in the early hours of last Friday when three youths forced their way inside, causing damage to windows.
Now, Ty Calon says it has been left with an incomplete cabin project after a builder failed to finish work.
The new space, designed to provide extra community facilities, currently has unfinished roofs, bare decking, unusable bathrooms and walls awaiting paint.
The organisation is calling on local tradespeople, businesses and volunteers who may be able to donate time, skills or materials in roofing, bathroom installation, carpentry and decorating.
In a statement, Ty Calon said: “This hub is more than a building. It’s where friendships are formed, where laughter echoes in classrooms and studios, where people find comfort, support and purpose and a space for the entire community to visit. But right now, our extension is not complete. Roofs are unfinished. Decking is bare. A cabin without warmth. Bathrooms not usable. Walls waiting to be painted.”
Ty Calon added that if volunteering is not possible, it is also seeking quotes from firms prepared to take on the remaining work at cost.
The centre has urged anyone able to help to get in touch directly and to share its appeal.
