Two bridge strikes in one night spark police warning in Deeside

North Flintshire police are appealing for witnesses after two separate bridge strikes were reported overnight in the Sandycroft and Queensferry areas.
Officers said both incidents involved vehicles striking low railway bridges, one on Chemistry Lane in Sandycroft and another on Station Road in Queensferry.
Drivers involved in bridge strikes are legally required to stop and report the incident immediately.
A spokesperson for North Wales Police North Flintshire said: “Officers last night dealt with two separate railway bridge strikes on the patch. This is where a bridge is hit by a vehicle which is too tall.”
“Drivers who strike a bridge have a responsibility to stop and report the incident immediately.”
“If you witnessed either the low bridge on Chemistry Lane (Sandycroft) or the bridge on Station Road (Queensferry) being struck last night, please contact us on 101 or via the online reporting tool.”
The incidents were among 59 calls received in the last 24 hours by North Flintshire officers, who also responded to 11 Priority 0 emergencies — the most serious category of calls requiring blue-light attendance.
Police confirmed that five arrests were made in the same 24-hour period, including two for recall to prison, one for drink driving, one for domestic-related assault and one for controlling and coercive behaviour.
