Trains from Shotton to Bidston and Wrexham running again following earlier line closure

Network Rail has confirmed all lines are back open following the earlier bridge strike which saw trains between Wrexham and cancelled for nearly three hours.


From earlier:

Arriva Train Wales have cancelled services from Shotton to Wrexham and Bidston due to a “lorry colliding with a bridge”

Network Rail have told us a lorry struck the Penyffordd bridge at 8.49 this morning, all lines over the bridge have been closed.

Network Rail engineers are due to inspect the bridge in the next hour before making an assessment on when they can reopen the lines.

Arriva Trains Wales website says:

Due to a lorry colliding with a bridge between Wrexham General and Bidston all lines are closed.

Train services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed. Disruption is expected until 12:00 17/11.
