Deeside boxer Tom Doran is a step closer to fighting for the Lonsdale belt after an emphatic win against former stablemate Rod Smith in Liverpool at Saturday night.

The Connahs Quay middleweight impressed in the stages of a highly anticipated eliminator clash at the Echo Arena.

Doran had the match all wrapped up in the third round after a stunning left hook body shot left Smith sprawling on the canvas with no chance of making count.

It’s 16 wins from 16 fights for Doran and his sights are now firmly set on British champion Nick Blackwell and his Lonsdale belt.
