[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]UPDATE: Roadworks have ben completed and traffic lights removed

Roadworks near Penymynydd roundabout which have caused chaos over the past two days are set to last until Wednesday 21st December. and will be completed today.

The approaches to the roundabout are being managed by a ‘multi-way’ set of traffic signals which were put into operation on Sunday.

BT are carrying out work to clear two ‘blockages’ in ducts which are causing faults according to the ‘real-time’ Roadworks.org map (below)

Queues of up to 45 minutes have been reported today as motorists struggle to get through the roadworks.

Kathryn Phillips said on twitter “absolutely ridiculous, barely moved in 45 mins”
@atbookandtea tweeted “Same here, it was horrid! Let’s hope they’re not there on the way home!”

Steve Jones, Chief Officer Streetscene and Transportation said;

“BT are currently working the A550 in Penymynydd to repair a fault to their network. The works are being carried out under an immediate notification and therefore not subject to the Christmas roadworks embargo. The temporary 4 way traffic signals will be manually operated at all times and the works will be completed today.”
