Senedd election 2026: Polling stations open at 7am in Flintshire

Polling stations across Flintshire open at 7am today, Thursday 7 May, for the 2026 Senedd election.
Voting will close at 10pm.
Flintshire voters are split between two of the 16 new Senedd constituencies: Fflint Wrecsam and Clwyd.
Fflint Wrecsam covers most of Deeside and the eastern parts of Flintshire alongside Wrexham.
Communities in the constituency include Connah’s Quay, Shotton, Queensferry, Sealand, Saltney, Hawarden, Broughton, Buckley, Caergwrle, Hope, Higher Kinnerton, Pen-y-ffordd, Llanfynydd, Treuddyn, Bagillt and Flint.
Clwyd covers a wider area extending into Denbighshire and the north Wales coast.
Flintshire communities in the Clwyd constituency include Mold, Holywell, Mostyn, Greenfield, Northop, Northop Hall, Halkyn, Caerwys, Leeswood, Cilcain, Gwernaffield, Gwernymynydd, Argoed, New Brighton, Llanasa and Trelawnyd.
Voters can find their polling station, confirm their constituency and see the candidates standing in their area by entering a postcode below.
Each constituency will elect six Members of the Senedd.
The total number of MSs in Cardiff Bay rises from 60 to 96.
Senedd elections will now be held every four years rather than every five.
This is the first Senedd election under a new voting system.
Voters will be given one ballot paper rather than two.
They will vote for a political party or an independent candidate.
The ballot paper will show each party’s full list of candidates, so voters can still see who they are choosing to send to Cardiff Bay.
Seats will then be allocated to parties in proportion to their share of the vote.
Candidates are elected in the order set out on each party’s list.
All candidates must live in Wales, a new requirement for this election.
Voters do not need to bring photo ID or a polling card to vote.
The Senedd election does not require ID, unlike UK general elections.
Sixteen and 17-year-olds can vote in the Senedd election.
It is the second Welsh parliamentary election in which they have been able to take part.
Wrexham Council is running the Fflint Wrecsam election.
Flintshire County Council is running the Clwyd election.
The Fflint Wrecsam count will take place in Wrexham on Friday.
The Clwyd count will take place at Connah’s Quay.
Results are expected from Friday afternoon.
Welsh Labour has been the largest party in every Senedd election since the institution was established in 1999.
Polls in the final week of the campaign put Plaid Cymru ahead, with Reform UK close behind and Welsh Labour in third or fourth.
A YouGov poll for ITV Cymru Wales and Cardiff University, conducted between 27 April and 4 May, put Plaid Cymru on 33 per cent, Reform UK on 29 per cent, Welsh Labour on 12 per cent and the Welsh Conservatives on 9 per cent.
A Survation poll over a similar period had Plaid Cymru on 30 per cent and Reform UK on 28 per cent, with Welsh Labour on 15 per cent.
A FindOutNow poll between 1 and 6 May put Plaid Cymru on 35 per cent and Reform UK on 28 per cent.
The final ITV Cymru Wales MRP poll, conducted by YouGov with Cardiff University’s Wales Governance Centre, projected the same six-seat split in both Flintshire constituencies: two seats each for Reform UK and Plaid Cymru, and one each for Welsh Labour and the Welsh Conservatives.
