A Welsh Government advertisement targeting domestic violence will run during prime time television programming over the Christmas period.
Already available to view on the Live Fear Free website, the 30-second clip shows the devastating effects abuse in the home can have on the whole family, especially children.

It encourages viewers watching peak-time shows such as Coronation Street to speak up if they suspect someone they know is suffering in silence.

The Minister for Public Services, Leighton Andrews said:

“Christmas is a happy time of the year for the vast majority of people, but it is also a period when many people feel added pressure, not least around financial worries.

“Combined with an increase in alcohol consumption, rates of domestic abuse climb.

“This advert asks family and friends not to stand back if they believe there could be a cause for concern, but to take action before it’s too late.”

The advert will run from December 15th to December 31st and will appear in the commercial breaks around popular programmes such as This Morning, Secret Dealers, Coronation Street and the ITV early evening news.
