Wepre Park, Greenfield Valley, and Bailey Hill have all been awarded the Green Flag Award for 2025, recognising them as some of the UK’s best green spaces.

The Green Flag Award is an international mark of quality given to parks and green spaces that meet high environmental standards, are well maintained, and offer excellent visitor facilities. The award highlights the dedication and community spirit behind these sites.

Cllr Chris Dolphin, Cabinet member for Environment, Regeneration, Countryside and Tourism, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have achieved Green Flag status at Wepre Park, Greenfield Valley, and Bailey Hill. This achievement reflects the immense effort and pride taken by everyone involved in maintaining and improving these spaces for the public to enjoy.”

In Wales, the Green Flag scheme is run by Keep Wales Tidy. Lucy Prisk, Green Flag Coordinator for the organisation, said: “We’re thrilled to see 315 green spaces in Wales achieving the prestigious Green Flag status, which is testament to the dedication and hard work of hundreds of staff and volunteers. Quality green spaces play a vital role in the physical and mental well-being of people across Wales, and to be recognised as among the best in the world is a huge achievement – Congratulations!”

Flintshire County Council thanked the site teams and volunteers who have contributed countless hours to maintaining, conserving, and engaging the community with these parks.

Special mention was made of Friends of Bailey Hill and Mold Town Council, Friends of Wepre Park and other stakeholders, and the Greenfield Valley Trust and its volunteers.

Wepre Park is noted for its biodiversity and family-friendly recreation, Greenfield Valley combines industrial heritage with wildlife, and Bailey Hill offers historical interest and peaceful scenery in Mold.
