Flintshire roadworks round-up: what is closed and where this week

Drivers across Flintshire are facing road closures and temporary traffic lights at dozens of locations this week, with two Flint roads shut by National Grid until 20 July.

Nant Road and Halkyn Road in Flint are both closed for electrical utility works being carried out by National Grid.

Both closures started on 8 June and are scheduled to run until 20 July.

In Sandycroft, Philip Street is closed from 10 June until 22 June for flood defence works being carried out by William Hughes Civil Engineering on behalf of Natural Resources Wales.

Ongoing works on Chester Road West in Shotton are also continuing.

Four-way temporary traffic lights are in place on the B5129 for active travel improvements being carried out by Flintshire County Council’s Streetscene Services.

Those lights started on 2 February and are not due to be removed until 12 September.

Works are also continuing at Ewloe’s two roundabouts, where drivers should expect delays.

In Mancot, Ash Lane has two-way temporary lights in place from 8 June until 3 July for construction and development work by PN Daly Ltd.

Philip Street in Sandycroft, where the road has closed for flood defence work, sits in a low-lying area of Deeside that has previously experienced surface water flooding.

The work is being carried out by a contractor appointed by Natural Resources Wales, the Welsh Government body responsible for flood risk management.

In Flint, Wales and West Utilities has temporary lights running on both Cornist Lane and Windsor Drive for gas works scheduled to last until 29 June.

Aber Road in Flint has a road closure in place until 17 June for electrical work by OConnor Utilities.

In Buckley, Well Street has a road closure until 12 June for electrical utility work, also by OConnor Utilities.

Church Road and Padeswood Road North in Buckley have three-way temporary lights today and tomorrow for gas works by Wales and West Utilities.

In Holywell, Maes Cynfaen had a road closure in place for electrical works by SPEN Network Plus, scheduled to run until 9 June.

Fron Park Road in Holywell has two-way lights until 12 June for the same contractor.

Shotton Lane in Shotton has three-way temporary lights running until 11 June following emergency works by OConnor Utilities.

In Mold, Love Lane has a road closure today and tomorrow for highways maintenance by Flintshire County Council’s Streetscene Services.

Main Road in Sychdyn has two-way lights on the A5119 today and tomorrow for the same reason.

Gwernaffield Road in Mold has two-way lights from 10 June until 23 June for construction work by Anwyl Construction.

On the A541 near Rhydymwyn, three-way lights at the A541 and B5123 junction are in place until 14 July for highways maintenance by Flintshire County Council’s Streetscene Services.

Longer-running works on Factory Pool Lane in Mold, also by Anwyl Construction, have a road closure in place that started in September 2025 and is not due to end until March 2027.

On the A548 near Ffynnongroyw, OCU Group has two-way lights in place in two separate sections for telecommunications work, both running until mid-June.

Chester Road in Pen-y-ffordd has two-way lights until 19 June for water utility works by Hafren Dyfrdwy.

Kinnerton Lane and The Green in Higher Kinnerton both have works by Hollingsworth Group, with temporary lights and a road closure respectively, running into mid-June.

Broughton Hall Road in Broughton has two-way lights until 12 June for electrical work by SPEN Network Plus.

Broughton Mills Road has had three-way lights in place for emergency water works by Hafren Dyfrdwy, running until 10 June.

Tenth Avenue in Deeside has two-way lights until 12 June for water utility works by Avove.

Bagillt Road in Greenfield has two-way lights until 11 June for telecommunications work by OCU Group.

Connah’s Quay Road in Northop and Starkey Lane in Northop both have works running until 12 June, with temporary lights and a road closure respectively.
