Police seek information on Higher Shotton doorstep thefts

North Flintshire Police have urged residents in the Higher Shotton area to report incidents of individuals going door-to-door asking for food and money, following allegations that some of these encounters have led to thefts from inside homes.
In a social media post, police confirmed they had visited the area and spoken with residents but acknowledged that they could not reach everyone at home during their visits.
The statement read: “We have visited the area and discussed with a number of residents; however, we don’t catch everyone when they’re home. If you are aware of this, or have experienced it, please contact NWP via online report or 101.”
Police also noted that there have been “reports that on entering homes, this person has then stolen items from inside,” though they reassured residents that there had been “no violence or threat of violence and no forced entry.”
The investigation aims to gather more information to seek civil orders to prevent further incidents while pursuing any criminal elements.
Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and inform elderly or vulnerable friends and relatives about the situation.
Anyone with information is urged to contact North Flintshire Police through their online reporting platform or by calling 101.
