Police helicopter and drone deployed in Flintshire bike pursuit

North Wales Police have arrested three males after receiving multiple reports of anti-social bike riding in the Flint and Connah’s Quay areas.
The arrests, On Sunday night, followed incidents involving off-road and Surron electric bikes being ridden recklessly on pavements and evading police.
The North Wales Roads Policing Unit posted on social media about the operation, describing how riders were “goading police” and putting members of the public at risk.
Officers authorised pursuit mitigation tactics to safely bring the bikes to a stop, reducing the danger to all involved.
With the assistance of the National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter, the Drone Unit, and officers on the ground, three bikes were tracked to nearby woodland, where the riders were detained and arrested. The seized bikes will now be disposed of.
“All three males have since been dealt with for offences under the Road Traffic Act,” the police confirmed, adding that such behaviour would not be tolerated.
For bikes like those involved to be ridden legally on public roads, riders must ensure they are registered, insured, and hold the appropriate driving licences.
The Roads Policing Unit stressed their commitment to public safety: “The manner in which they are being ridden will not be tolerated. We will use an array of tactics to prevent pursuits, but more importantly, to reduce the risk to the public who are needlessly being put at risk due to the selfish and irresponsible behaviour of these riders.”
On Friday night, a Surron bike was seen being ridden at high speed across the Asda junction in Queensferry.
Traffic police were close behind but did not pursue the bike through the traffic lights.
