A Flintshire holiday park is embarking on a substantial upgrade, with the construction of 55 new lodges and significant facility enhancements, ready to welcome visitors for the 2024 season.

The multi-million-pound investment marks a new chapter for Pennant Holiday Park near Holywell, enhancing its appeal as a top holiday destination in North Wales.

The project is part-funded by a substantial seven-figure loan from the Development Bank of Wales.

The funding will support Wayfind Escapes in upgrading the 112-acre park, following their acquisition of Pennant Park Golf Club and Holiday Park in October 2023.

The investment will facilitate the addition of a fleet of luxury lodges, complete with hot tubs, available for hire or purchase. Moreover, the park will see renovations to its bar and restaurant, improvements to the golf course, and a new playground for children.

Pennant Holiday Park boasts stunning views over the Dee Estuary to the Wirral Peninsula. Currently, the park features an 18-hole golf course, 18 privately-owned lodges, a bar, and an on-site restaurant. The new development will enhance these existing facilities, catering to the growing demand for high-end accommodation in the area.

David Eccles, Chief Executive of Wayfind Escapes, expressed enthusiasm about the potential of Pennant Holiday Park. “There is strong demand for high-end lodges in North Wales, and we saw the potential for Pennant to become a five-star destination resort,” he said. The funding from the Development Bank is pivotal in setting the standard for luxury lodges and holiday homes in the region while also creating job opportunities for local residents.

Will Jones and Chris Hayward, Investment Executives with the Development Bank of Wales, highlighted Pennant’s potential as a top holiday destination in North Wales. “Located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, Pennant is now in the capable hands of an excellent management team with a strong track record in the holiday park sector,” they stated.

This project, financed by the Wales Tourism Investment Fund of the Welsh Government, aligns with the government’s priorities to support innovative, high-quality tourism projects. The development at Pennant Holiday Park is anticipated to significantly benefit holidaymakers, the local community, and the broader economy of Holywell and North Wales.
