Mold has a new Mayor for the 2026/27 municipal year.

Cllr Jo Edwards was elected Mayor of Mold at Mold Town Council’s Annual Meeting on Wednesday 6 May, with Cllr Pete Dando elected as Deputy Mayor.

Cllr Edwards has lived in Mold for more than 20 years and has served on the town council for four.

Speaking after her appointment, Cllr Edwards said: “I am truly honoured to be elected as Mayor of Mold for the forthcoming year.”

She added: “I have lived, worked and had the privilege of raising my family here in Mold for more than 20 years.”

“I have served on Mold Town Council for the past four years and I know I am following in the footsteps of a long line of dedicated Town Councillors who have had the honour of becoming Mayor of our town.”

“They are hard acts to follow, but I will do my very best to serve our town and community that I am so proud of.”

“I am looking forward to my Mayoral year, promoting Mold and celebrating the achievements of those who live and work here.”

Cllr Edwards also paid tribute to her predecessor.

She said: “I would also like to thank Cllr Paul Beacher for all his hard work over the last 12 months as Mayor.”

“I have learnt a great deal from Paul and it has been a privilege to work alongside him.”

Cllr Edwards has chosen to support charities and organisations working with children and animals through this year’s Mayoral Appeal.

She said: “As previous Mayors have done, during my year in office I will endeavour to raise awareness and funds for my chosen charities and organisations as part of the Town Council’s Mayoral Appeal.”

“I have decided to support charities and organisations that work with children and animals.”

“I also aim to continue the work of our former Mayors by promoting our wonderful town as much as possible.”

“Mold really is a fantastic place to live, work and enjoy.”

Outgoing Mayor Cllr Paul Beacher confirmed his Mayoral Appeal had raised more than £7,500 for Kidsbank Flintshire and Macmillan Cancer Support (Wrexham & Flintshire).

Cllr Beacher said: “It has been a great honour to represent the Town Council and our town over the last 12 months.”

He added: “During that time, I have met many wonderful and inspiring people and made some great friends along the way.”

“It has been the best year I could have wished for and I pass on my very best wishes to Cllr Edwards as she begins her Mayoral year.”

“I would also like to thank everyone who supported me during my term of office, my Consort Eira, our hard-working officers, my fellow Councillors and all those within our community who offered their support.”

“Thanks to the generosity and support we received, I am delighted to announce that we have raised just over £7,500 for my chosen charities, Kidsbank Flintshire and Macmillan Cancer Support (Wrexham & Flintshire).”

“This funding will make a real difference to both the charities and the people in Mold whom they support.”

“Finally, on behalf of Eira and myself, I would like to congratulate and wish Jo and her Consort Wayne a wonderful year ahead, and also congratulate Cllr Pete Dando on becoming Deputy Mayor.”

Cllr Dando will serve alongside Cllr Edwards throughout the Mayoral term.
