Missing Connah’s Quay man found safe after multi-agency Dee search

A man reported missing from his home in Connah’s Quay was found safe on Tuesday evening after a three-hour multi-agency search of the Dee estuary and surrounding inland areas.
North Wales Police confirmed just after 9.30pm that the man, named in its public appeal as James, had been located safely.
Flint Coastguard Rescue Team had been tasked at 6.30pm, joining Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team for a missing person search at Dock Rock in Connah’s Quay.
Both units met with police officers, including the force’s North Flintshire team, to coordinate the operation.
Additional support was requested from Llandwrog Coastguard Rescue Team, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, RNLI Flint Lifeboat, RNLI West Kirby Lifeboat, RNLI Hoylake Lifeboat Station and Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 936.
The Coastguard helicopter was seen overhead at Queensferry during the operation.
The RNLI Hoylake hovercraft was deployed to search the River Dee at Flint.
North East Wales Search and Rescue volunteers were also tasked by police to cover inland areas.

After approximately three hours of searching, the man was located safely inland by police officers.
All units were stood down after a full debrief.
Flint Coastguard volunteers were back on station by 10.30pm, washing down kit and replenishing equipment ready for the next callout.
