Met Office issues yellow warning for dense fog in Flintshire
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for fog across various regions, including Flintshire cautioning the public of potential transport disruptions.
The fog, is already dense in parts of Flintshire with reduced visibility to below 100 metres, making driving conditions particularly challenging.
The warning advises of slower journey times and potential delays to both bus and train services.
The fog will likely persist until late morning, even though the visibility is expected to gradually improve after sunrise.
The Met Office states: “Areas of fog are expected to continue to develop this morning becoming dense with visibility falling to below 100 m in places. This will lead to difficult driving conditions, slower journey times and some disruption. The fog will slowly clear after sunrise but may take until late morning to do so in a few locations.”
Driving safely in fog
Foggy conditions can make it difficult to see the road ahead, be prepared for this by following these simple steps:
- Make sure you know where you fog light switch is before you set off.
- Keep a bigger distance between you and the car in front.
- Be prepared for a sudden bank of fog or drifting, patchy fog.
- Check your mirrors and slow down before entering fog.
- Use fog lights when visibility drops below 100 metres, which is roughly the length of a football pitch.
- Don’t use full beam as fog reflects the light back.
- Once the fog has lifted switch off your fog lights.

East of England: Bedford, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Peterborough, and Suffolk.
North West England: Blackburn with Darwen, Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Chester, Greater Manchester, Halton, Lancashire, Merseyside, and Warrington.
Wales: Denbighshire, Flintshire, Powys, and Wrexham.
West Midlands: Shropshire, Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, Telford and Wrekin, Warwickshire, West Midlands Conurbation, and Worcestershire.
Yorkshire & Humber: East Riding of Yorkshire, Kingston upon Hull, North East Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire, North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, and York.
