Members of public step in after PCSO assaulted on Flint High Street

A police community support officer was assaulted on the High Street in Flint overnight after other officers were responding to multiple simultaneous emergencies across north Flintshire.
North Wales Police said response teams and neighbourhood officers were dealing with several incidents at the same time, including domestic violence, other assaults and a person in cardiac arrest, when a further call came in from the High Street.
The PCSO, who was nearby, attended alone and was assaulted by the offender before other officers reached the scene.
Members of the public stepped in to help until police arrived and the offender was arrested and taken into custody.
North Wales Police said the PCSO’s welfare is their top priority and that colleagues will check in over the coming days.
North Flintshire Police said: “Officers arriving, we got some grief because the PCSO was on her own – and rightly so, nobody is more upset than us that our colleague was hurt and that we weren’t able to get there quick enough.”
The force added: “Charges will be sought and we hope to see some justice served not just for our colleague but for members of the public who are aware of this offender and the demand they have caused.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact North Wales Police quoting reference O054503.
The assault came during a night in which north Flintshire officers responded to 12 priority zero incidents, the category attended on lights and sirens.
Those included three domestic incidents, three concern for safety calls and four anti-social behaviour incidents.
Eight people were arrested overnight, including one on suspicion of drug driving, one for stalking offences, four for assault, one for criminal damage and one for a combination of shoplifting, public order offences and assaulting police
