The Court of Appeal has confirmed receipt of an appeal request from child killer, Lucy Letby.

Letby, 33, was handed a whole life order following her conviction for the series of infant deaths and attempted murders at the Countess of Chester Hospital’s neonatal unit between 2015 and 2016.

An independent inquiry has been pledged by the Department of Health. This inquiry will delve into the specifics of Ms. Letby’s case, focusing particularly on “the circumstances surrounding the deaths and incidents.”

A significant point of inquiry will be to determine how concerns that were previously raised by clinicians were addressed.

It is standard practice for applications seeking permission to appeal against a crown court ruling to be assessed by a judge without a formal hearing.

Should the application be declined, the individual has the right to renew their appeal bid.
