Innovations That Will Define The Future of Cars

News and Info from Deeside, Flintshire, North Wales

The price of car ownership is growing every year. There is no cheaper gas or maintenance unless you do it yourself. Yet, the engineers and scientists are working hard to resolve these issues. In a few years, you might not own a vehicle that runs on traditional fuel at all!

Here are the most sought-after innovations that will make our automobiles more efficient in the future.

Fewer Parts in the Vehicle

If you have ever looked under the hood of your car, you know how complex the parts are in every vehicle. It is about to change, though. While some of us are still looking for salvage cars for sale Ohio and other US cities to get cheap car parts, others won’t need these parts at all very soon.

The engine is one of the heaviest parts of the car. There are many items in the traditional engine, including:

  • engine block;
  • pistons;
  • crankshaft;
  • water and oil pumps;
  • cylinder head, and more.

Most of these are made of heat-resistant metals, so they can take the pressure and temperature created by the vehicle. Moreover, it has to transfer energy to four corners of the car by using additional parts.

In the future, electric motors will be placed near every wheel to power it. Instead of a heavy-duty engine, you will have smaller motors controlled by a computer. This will make vehicles weigh a lot less in general, requiring less fuel as a result.

Plastic Utilization

The world does not need more plastic production. Yet, utilizing all the plastic waste in car production is a viable option. Since it is already a big part of our daily lives, we can make it more versatile and withstand extreme conditions like high heat and pressure. Companies like Polimotor are working on the first plastic engines and claim that they will weigh 30% less than a traditional engine.

Apart from the usual interior of the car, which we already see in plastic, we will welcome more use of the material for the exterior. Front and rear bumpers, side skirts, or even the entire exterior will be in plastic – maybe you will even be able to get them from salvage cars on online marketplaces like Cars From West in the future.

Adopting Carbon Fiber

Carbon fiber was first used in the aerospace industry. This material is lightweight and durable. In the automotive industry, it has been used in racing to make vehicles lighter and faster. Now, carbon fiber is coming into the traditional car industry.

Car owners who are into tuning already know that you can use carbon fiber hoods, spoilers, or even body panels. Not only is it functional, but it looks very interesting. It is similar to fiberglass but withstands even harsher conditions. Although it weighs a lot less, it is harder and more expensive to produce. A few manufacturers, however, are working to bring the material to the mass market.

Innovating the Approach to Transportation

We are constantly innovating our automotive vehicles! 30 years ago, an average car weighed up to 4,500 pounds. Now, it’s been reduced to 3,000 pounds. With fewer parts, plastic, and carbon fibers adopted in car manufacturing, we will see even more innovative solutions in transportation.
