Halfway House set to go under the hammer later this month
A well known Connah’s Quay pub is set to go under the hammer at auction later this month.
The Halfway House on Church Street closed in 2018 and was put on the market at the time for £600,000.
The two-storey detached pub comes with domestic living accommodation, outside there are 35 car parking spaces, kids play area and outbuildings.
The site covers just over half an acre and is being auctioned at a guide price of £185,000 and will be sold with its premises licence included.
Paul Thompson, managing director of property auction house Pugh, said: “The pub industry has certainly come under pressure from changing leisure habits in recent years.
However, these former pub properties offer excellent opportunities for creative redevelopment projects.
The Halfway House is a large venue, with plenty of indoor and outdoor space ideal for residential or commercial projects, subject to the necessary planning consent.
Being situated near a busy route into Wales and having the premises license included makes this a particularly attractive investment.”
Connah’s Quay Councillor, Andy Dunbobbin launched a petition to ‘save’ the pub last week, it has been signed by over 400 people.
Cllr Dunbobbin said: “The response from our community demonstrates how significant the Halfway House means to people.
To receive over 400 signatures in such a quick time is truly overwhelming.
I’d like to publicly thank those who have signed.
Whoever is successful in buying the Halfway at the auction I hope they recognise the emotional attachment people have with this place.”
The Halfway House will feature among over 100 lots in Pugh’s next property auction, held at Manchester’s AJ Bell Stadium on 25 February.
