61 calls, six arrests and a dog called Arlo: 24 hours with north Flintshire’s police
Police in north Flintshire dealt with 61 calls in 24 hours, made six arrests and introduced a four-legged colleague, in the team’s latest morning briefing.
The North Wales Police North Flintshire team, which covers Flint, Holywell, Bagillt, Mostyn and the surrounding area, shared the snapshot on social media on Thursday morning.
Of the 61 calls for service, 12 were attended on blue lights and sirens.
They included six domestic incidents, five reports of anti-social behaviour and one concern for safety.
Six people were arrested, with three still in custody when the briefing was posted, or as the team put it, “still in for brekki”.
Three of the arrests were for assaults, all of them domestic related, with one arrest for aggravated burglary, one for breach of a restraining order and one for a recall to prison.
Thirty-four incidents were passed over for write-up, with 14 recorded as crimes so far.
Against the force’s priorities, the team logged the domestic incidents, one hate related incident, and no burglaries reported.
The briefing also explained why not every domestic incident the team attends ends up recorded as a crime.
The team said: “Not all domestics are crimes, sometimes persons are having a verbal argument and there’s no assaults or other concerns. We’ll still complete all the relevant paperwork and record the incidents.”
The domestic tag also covers family relationships, not just couples, meaning an argument between a parent and child would be tagged as a domestic.
The briefing closed with an introduction to PD Arlo, a general purpose police dog.
Breeds like the Malinois and Dutch and Belgian Shepherds have largely taken over the general purpose role that once belonged to German Shepherds.
The team said dogs like Arlo will “chase and detain suspects” and can track people, before offering a candid translation of what detain means: “Bite them or hold them where they are by barking and bite if they move.”
The team signed off: “Quick brief this morning, then out the door! Stay Safe.”
