Whilst Saturday evening will see Connah’s Quay Nomads and Flint Town United do battle on the pitch, the two sides will join forces off it in aid of Flintshire Food Bank.

Ahead of kick off, there will be donation points just outside the turnstiles allowing spectators from both clubs to donate food to those less fortunate this festive period before entering the Essity Stadium

Flintshire Food Bank plays a crucial role in the community, having provided over 11,573 people, including nearly 5,000 children, with food parcels from April 2022 to March 2023.

Nomads Ambassador, Jack Sargeant MS, expressed his pride in both clubs for organising the foodbank drive.

He said: “I am really proud of Connah’s Quay Nomads and Flint Town United for their efforts in organising a donations drive for the local foodbank.”

“So many people are struggling and this work is really needed.”

“Two clubs rooted in their communities and determined to make a difference, well done all.”

The foodbank has suggested a variety of donations, these include non-perishable items like UHT milk, coffee, tinned meat and fish, long-life juice, tinned meals, pasta sauce, fruits, vegetables, soups, cereals, pasta, rice, and toiletries such as soap, toothpaste, and shower gel.

This collaboration between Connah’s Quay Nomads and Flint Town United transcends the usual sports rivalry, reflecting a deeper sense of community responsibility.

As the festive season approaches, their efforts serve as a reminder of the power of collective action in supporting those in need.
