Flint students enjoy team building activities in great outdoors
A group of sixth form students attended a popular outdoors activity centre for a team building and resilience activity day.
Twenty year 12 students from Flint High went on the school funded enrichment trip to the Kingswood Centre, Colomendy, which was designed to encourage and strengthen their team working and resilience skills.
During the day, the students had an opportunity to take part in a wide variety of activities, including:
the Jacob’s ladder, the 3G swing, and the nightline, where blindfolded students need to help and support each other to navigate through an obstacle course. They also participated in a variety of exercises working in teams.
Anna Smith, sixth form supervisor, went with the students. She said: “After the success of this trip last year, we were keen to offer it again for our new sixth formers, and it was brilliant!
“It is so important for students to have opportunities outside of the classroom to develop essential team building and resilience skills, and the Kingswood Centre provides a wonderful environment to be able to do this in a fun and relaxed way.
“Throughout the day we could visibly see our students gaining the confidence to work together to solve problems. They were all so helpful with each other and really came out of their comfort zones to work as a team.
Feedback from the students has been very positive; they all said how much they enjoyed the day and how nice it was to spend time together away from school and get to know each other better. Callum Rush said it was ‘the greatest thrill of my life’.
Sixth form students, including future leaders (prefects), will be on hand to talk to visitors at the sixth form open evening which will be held on Thursday, 19th October, between 6-8pm.
Anna added: “We are very excited to be hosting our sixth form open evening where we will be showcasing the wide range of subjects that we offer within Flint 6. Clare Millington, our headteacher,
will welcome visitors with an introduction, and afterwards prospective students will be able to sample individual subject areas and meet key members of staff who will be able to answer any questions. We look forward to welcoming everyone to the event.”
