The Royal National Lifeboat Institution’s (RNLI) Lifeboat Station in Flint is on the lookout for new volunteers to join their life-saving team. ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

With a proud history stretching back to 1966, the station’s volunteers have saved lives both at sea and during inland flooding. ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

In recognition of their bravery and dedication, the crews have been awarded four gallantry awards over the past 50 years. ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The station is seeking a volunteer to take on the role of Lifeboat Operations Manager, who will lead the existing team of volunteer lifeboat crew members. ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The wider volunteer team at Flint Lifeboat Station also includes shore crew, fundraisers, shop volunteers, and youth education presenters. ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

All lifeboat and shore crew members undergo the RNLI’s national Competency Based Training Scheme and are on call 24/7 to respond to requests to launch the lifeboats. ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The role of Inshore Lifeboat Crew is also open for volunteers who are interested in joining the team. ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

By crewing the lifeboat on service and exercise, under the command of the Helm, volunteers can play a vital role in ensuring the lifeboats are always ready to save lives at sea. ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

To be considered for the role of Inshore Lifeboat Crew or Lifeboat Operations Manager, applicants must be team players, good communicators, and in good general fitness. ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

They should also have the ability to learn new skills, live or work close to the station, and be between the ages of 17 and 55. ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

A spokesperson said: “Volunteering at Flint Lifeboat Station offers many benefits, including the opportunity to be part of an inclusive and diverse organisation, meet new people, and join a motivated and enthusiastic team.” ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“Volunteers can also learn new skills, gain experience to enhance their CV, and gain the satisfaction of giving back to their local community.” ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“All training to fulfill the volunteer role will be provided, and reasonable out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.” ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“So, if you’re looking to make a difference, gain valuable skills and experience, now is the perfect time to join the RNLI’s Lifeboat Station in Flint.” ‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
