Firefighters are tackling a blaze at a former doctors surgery on Rowleys Drive in Shotton.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service say they were called to the fire – which is thought to have been deliberately started – just after 1.45pm today.

Two appliances, one from Deeside the other Buckley are at the scene.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have used hose reels to douse the flames, they are also using thermal imaging equipment.

The extent of the damage to the building is not known yet the fire service said.

The building has been empty for a number years, it was bought by developers last year and is earmarked for demolition.

Plans have been submitted to Flintshire Council to build six affordable homes on the site once cleared.
