Ewloe holiday park operator Darwin Escapes launches lodge sales business

Holiday park operator Darwin Escapes, which is headquartered at St David’s Park in Ewloe, has put 10 lodges up for sale in its first move into holiday home ownership.
The Flintshire-based company is selling lodges at two of its resorts: Keswick Reach Retreat near Cockermouth in the Lake District, and Woodside Coastal Retreat at Wootton Bridge on the Isle of Wight.
Darwin Escapes said further lodges could be released for sale subject to demand.
Drew Campbell, managing director at Darwin Escapes, said: “We’ve seen increasing demand from repeat guests who want greater flexibility and long-term access to their preferred destinations.”
“This move allows us to meet that demand while expanding our commercial model.”
Lodges at Keswick Reach are priced at around £130,000 on average.
Annual site fees, which cover plot rental, resort maintenance, leisure facilities and 24-hour security, start at £5,595.
For a limited period, Darwin Escapes is offering free site fees until February 2027.
Drew Campbell said: “Ownership can offer greater cost efficiency over time.”
“Where lodges are not in use, owners also have the option to generate income through subletting, helping to offset ongoing costs.”
The two- and three-bedroom lodges at Keswick Reach include open-plan living, private outdoor space, and access to on-site facilities including a bar and gym.
Some lodges feature private hot pools.
Darwin Escapes said its own research found UK adults had taken an average of 4.3 domestic holidays in the past two years, with most lasting two to four nights.
The company said proceeds from the lodge sales would help fund expansion into new UK locations.
Founded in 2008, Darwin Escapes operates UK holiday resorts including Keswick Reach.
