Emergency gas repairs are underway in Connah’s Quay, with roadworks expected to continue until 14 February, Wales & West Utilities has announced.

The repairs, which began on Tuesday, are taking place outside Coleg Cambria, at the junction of Kelsterton Road and Golftyn Lane.

Temporary three-way traffic lights have been installed, and motorists are advised to allow extra travel time.

The work is being carried out in collaboration with Flintshire County Council and is essential to maintaining a safe and reliable gas supply for local homes and businesses.

Ben Hughes from Wales & West Utilities said: “We have worked with the council to minimise disruption to motorists. We know that working in areas like this is not ideal, but it really is essential to make sure we keep the gas flowing.”

He added that the upgrades would help prepare the gas network for future use, including the transportation of hydrogen and biomethane as part of a transition to greener energy.

Wales & West Utilities has assured residents that teams are working as safely and quickly as possible to complete the repairs.
