Delivery firm Delsol unveils new solar-powered super depot in Deeside

News and Info from Deeside, Flintshire, North Wales

Delivery Solutions (Delsol) Ltd has officially opened a state-of-the-art 21,000 sq. ft. depot at Deeside Industrial Park.

The move comes amid significant business growth, with the firm reporting a 19% year-on-year increase in overnight parcel volumes, fueled by growing demand across North Wales and Northwest England.

The new facility, powered by solar energy, marks a major milestone in Delsol’s expansion strategy. It replaces the firm’s previous Sandycroft site and brings its total warehousing capacity to over 120,000 sq. ft.

The additional space enables the business to separate its pallet and parcel operations, expand overnight parcel services, and explore growth opportunities in same-day, international delivery, and storage services.

Supporting SMEs and Local Growth

The new depot reinforces Delsol’s commitment to supporting local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Through its partnership with The APC delivery network—the UK’s largest independent parcel delivery network—Delsol helps North Wales businesses access nationwide customer bases.

Kathy Jones, Group Chief Executive at Delsol, shared her excitement about the new site:

“Delsol celebrated its 20th anniversary last year, and the business continues to go from strength to strength. As we enter this next chapter, the team and I are incredibly excited to be expanding our business through this new site, providing growth opportunities for our business and all the fantastic local businesses we support. We pride ourselves on being the carrier of choice for SMEs in the local area and remain committed to investing in our business to further support our customers, now and in the future.”

Leadership and Workforce Development

To oversee operations at the new site, Delsol has appointed Damian Conde as Operations Manager.

With over a decade of logistics experience, Damian will lead the team through the next phase of growth while fostering opportunities for new talent.

Damian said: “Our announcement today is a commitment to our SME customers, ensuring we’re investing in the business and our people to further improve the service they can expect from us. I’m looking forward to joining Delsol on the next phase of growth and welcoming a new generation of talent, providing opportunities for them to learn and grow with the business.”

A Focus on Sustainability

Delsol’s new depot demonstrates the firm’s focus on sustainability.

The facility is equipped with rooftop solar panels, energy-efficient lighting, and four electric forklifts, with plans to add electric delivery vehicles in the coming months.

These initiatives align with the company’s long-term environmental goals, positioning it as a leader in sustainable logistics.

Jonathan Smith, Chief Executive of The APC, praised Delsol’s efforts:

“The world is changing at pace, and across our network we are still seeing the strength and determination of our SME customers as they respond to the turbulence of the economy and the evolving needs of consumers. Delsol’s continued investment into its business and sustainability initiatives will ensure it is well placed to navigate the continued evolution of our industry; building for future growth, and the growth of customers.”

The new ‘super depot’ reflects Delsol’s broader vision of supporting local businesses, driving sustainability, and preparing for the future of logistics.
