Council updates on missed bin collections during adverse weather in Flintshire

News and Info from Deeside, Flintshire, North Wales

Flintshire County Council has provided an update on waste and recycling collections following disruptions caused by adverse weather conditions and resource shortages.

The council has prioritised the collection of black bins that were missed on Saturday 4 January and Monday 6 January.

These will now be collected on Saturday 11 January 2025, with residents in affected areas advised to place their bins at the kerbside by 7am.

The affected areas for this collection include:

  • Holywell, Carmel, Holway, Gorsedd, Babell, Ysceifiog, Afonwen, Caerwys, Lloc, Pantasaph, Rhosesmor, Pentre Halkyn, and rural lanes around Whitford, Trelogan, Axton, Llanasa, Gwaenysgor, Trelawnyd, Tre-Mostyn, and Brynford.

Recycling and Food Waste

Due to resource constraints, the council has confirmed that it will not be returning to collect recycling and food waste missed earlier in the week.

Residents are asked to place these out on their next scheduled collection date.

The council highlighted that icy conditions continue to disrupt collections, particularly in rural areas.

The following locations may experience limited or no collections:

  • Pentre Halkyn, Halkyn, Rhosesmor, Moel y Crio, Rhes y Cae, Lixwm, Pantasaph, Gorsedd, Carmel, Babell, Ysceifiog, Caerwys, Afonwen, and Flint Mountain lanes.

Additional Options for Residents

Residents with missed bins this week are encouraged to leave them at the kerbside, as crews will attempt to return to collect them as soon as possible.

Alternatively, they can dispose of their waste at one of the council’s Household Recycling Centres.

To report missed bins, residents can now use the council’s missed bins form on its website.

A council spokesperson said:

“We are prioritising resources to collect black bins that were missed on Saturday 4 January and Monday 6 January. Due to current resource, we are unable to return to collect recycling and food waste that was missed. We apologise for any inconvenience, please put them kerbside on your next scheduled collection date.”

The council added that the safety of crews, road users, and the public remains its top priority during the ongoing icy conditions.
